The Watercooler

This morning Scott Graf made a small error in his report. To correct the error he said, “check that”, and then gave the corrected information. Many times a newscaster will use “rather” as a way of correcting an error. In the Navy they use “belay that” as a means to cancel an order. I would like to know from the WFAE on air staff, what is the best way to cover a flub?

maybe a coughing fit would work

I've heard "check that" before. I doubt it really matters as long as the meaning is clear.
