During the campaign Obama said he would let ACORN help shape his agenda. His much lauded experience as a "community organizer" was derived from his work with ACORN. Now we have three separate ACORN offices (D.C., New York and Baltimore) on video eag…

It's been a while since I've commented here. With news of the resignation of Van Jones Van Durrett and this discussion came to mind. Many people know nothing of the green czar. that's because of, dare I say, media bias. There was no mention of Van J…

I don't think the debate is honest. The matter of choice is greatly inhibited with a universal plan. Competition, if permitted, drives cost down. The only thing the government has ever done that came in under budget was the medicare prescription dru…

I found it interesting that at Obama's primetime press conference he didn't get a single question about the GDP shrinking 6.1%. The economy didn't experience anything close to that under Bush. There was also much less attention paid to the photo-op…

Points well taken Em but I was just pointing out that Obama lied. He did say no lobbyist. I get that you don't like the old administration, fine. I'm not aware of any that didn't pay their taxes. Are you. You're making excuses with the 'everybody do…

At least Obama is trying to clean up Bush's mess

It sure sounded good when candidate Obama said he’d close Gitmo and stop the Bush policies in regards to the treatment of detainees. Now president Obama has signed an executive order to keep prisoners indefinitely without a trial. He has retained the right to water board. His Congress voted 90-6 not to close Gitmo. Change? The entire debate went no deeper than implying Bush is a masochistic buffoon. No one ever considered that maybe Bush had legitimate reasons for Gitmo…until reality hit.

Algore's Hideous Graph

In my quest for honest debate, I thought I would try again by narrowing the focus. Because CO2 is currently in the news, I'll focus there.

I am not arguing whether humans (greedy, wasteful Americans) contribute to global warming. I don't want to quibble with any of the merits of the details. I should also point out that I am not in favor of dirty air. I don't know anyone who is. My only question: Is Algore debating honestly?

If you have seen "An Inconvenient Truth" then you have seen the famou… Continue

Honest Debate

The converstaion has gotten muddied. Premises are all out of whack. Arguments based on false premises are now gospel. It's surreal.

Disagreement is healthy if it leads to solutions. It's hard to debate someone who is sure they know more than everybody in the room. It seems like there is a lot of that around here and at "Charlotte Blogs". The condescending, elitist vitriol coming from the "tolerant" left is astonishing. It seems to me that civil discourse, backed with evidence and sober explanat… Continue
