The Watercooler

In May, WFAE's Public Conversation on "Building a Biotech Economy" explored the current and potential economic impact of biotech research and manufacturing in the Charlotte region.
Check out this link to a New York Times article exploring the same topic, from both a North Carolina and national perspective. Share your thoughts!

Maybe the people pushing for all this development would do better to think about what's good for society and the community instead of how much money they can bring in/spend on bribery etc.
This focus on money is so low class...... every dribble that a street fair or car race brings in of out of town money is celebrated on tv "news"......nothing like letting people know they are nothing but dollar signs for the money grubbers of charlotte et al...... A little class would be so nice for a change.....

The whole Biotech Economy is an excellent topic for WFAE to be exploring and the New York Times article is very interesting. It raises the issue of the importance of critical mass. How is that defined? Do we have it or can we get it? As you continue to follow this development, that might be worth exploring.
